Initialization of the eTwinning project On 19 October 2020, the Greek organization initialized the complementary eTwinning project which shared the same name. Within a month, the Turkish organization, which is responsible for maintaining the eTwinning project, created the basic structure of it.
Initialization of the project website The Portuguese organization, which is responsible for creating and maintaining the central website of the project, proceeded to its initialization in early January 2021.
First online staff meeting The first online staff meeting took place on February 7, 2021. It was hosted on the Messenger platform and lasted almost one hour. The discussion focused on the development of the corresponding eTwinning project, the initial evaluative questionnaire and the procedure for selecting the logo of the project.
Voting procedure and selection of project logo During the second week of March 2021, the voting procedure for the selection of the project logo took place. One hundred and twenty-four students from all participating organizations joined the online process. On Monday March 15, the results were announced, whereas a few days later the winning logo was uploaded to the central site of the project.
Project reference in publication In March 2021, the Portuguese organization referred to our project in issue 13 of its internal publication, which is called Opção.
Presentation of collaborating country In April 2021, the Erasmus+ team of the Turkish organization held a presentation of Greece at their school, featuring travel guidebooks, food products, photographs, audio CDs and other souvenirs from the neighboring country.
Second online staff meeting The second online staff meeting took place on May 9, 2021. Yeliz Gökçe, head of the Turkish team, presented the necessary methodology and a number of digital tools which we can use to teach a CLIL lesson and have the best results for our students.
First online student meeting On Wednesday June 9 2021, the students of our project took part in their first online meeting through the use of the platform Zoom. With the help of their teachers, they had the chance to present themselves, talk to each other and play online games.
Teaching of CLIL lesson The students of the Greek Erasmus team were taught the CLIL lesson concerning their hometown, Kalamata. They worked in groups, along with the use of audiovisual aid.
Briefing about eTwinning On 8 December 2021, as part of the short-term joint staff training event organized by the 2nd Junior High School of Kalamata, the eTwinning ambassador Mrs. Kelly Katsirou informed teachers on the basic aspects of the eTwinning platform and answered their questions concerning its use.
Visiting the mayor of Kalamata On 8 December 2021, as part of the short-term joint staff training event organized by the 2nd Junior High School of Kalamata, the participating teachers visited the mayor of the city, Mr. Euthanasia Vasilopoulos. During this meeting, they had the opportunity to inform the mayor about the goals of the project and exchange interesting opinions concerning educational issues.
Greek school choir celebrates Turkish mobility The 2nd Junior High School of Kalamata celebrates its Erasmus group visit to Izmir, Turkey. Our Music teacher, Mary Parara, along with members of the school choir, are sending their music greetings. One song talks about "Karagiozis/Karagöz", the popular shadow puppet and fictional character of Greek and Turkish folklore. There are two traditional songs ("Milo Mu Kokino"-"My Red Apple" and "Menexedes and Zoumboulia"-"Violets and Hyacinths") and the classic pop song "We are the World", dedicated to the suffering Ukrainian people.
Greek team works out! On Monday, April 4, 2022, Mr. Dimitris Danakas, the PE teacher of the 2nd Junior High School of Kalamata, had an interesting workout with members of the Erasmus team "Food for Thought". As a preparatory activity for the Portuguese mobility, Dimitris showed students a number of physical exercises which can be performed when we want to refresh our bodies and feel better.
Unity is strength On Friday, April 8, 2022, the two Erasmus teams of the 2nd Junior High School of Kalamata got together and danced Jerusalema for the Porto mobility in May.
Greek team meets nutritionist On Saturday, April 9, 2022, members of the Greek Erasmus team "Food for Thought" had an interesting meeting with the nutritionist Mrs. Sofie Kostea. During the meeting, Mrs. Kostea offered valuable information and tips about achieving a healthy diet in adolescence.
Healthy snacking day (Greece) As an in-between activity for the Portuguese mobility, the Greek Erasmus team of the project "Food for Thought" organized a healthy snacking event at school on Friday, April 15, 2022. The team members offered their first-grade schoolmates healthy traditional snacks and asked their opinion about what they tasted.
